Phantom Dimension Survival Guide

Hello jammers! Asteralium here. So, you want to learn how to survive in the phantom dimension aye? Or maybe just want to learn what the heck it even is? Well, I can teach you, but it’ll cost ya. Specifically, it’ll cost you some time to read this article!

Gearing Up:

boomseeds.PNG

Before going into the Phantom Dimension, you’re going to need to get prepared. You can’t just walk in without anything to defend yourself with. Sadly, it seems swords aren’t much use. The Alphas recommend using paintseeds. You can buy paintseed trees from the sapphire shop for 100 sapphires or trade for one. Once you obtain a few trees, you can place them in your den and start harvesting. The only thing that paintseeds need to grow is time. The tree will regrow three seeds every twenty minutes.

Next up, you’ll need to be able to actually enter the Phantom Dimension. You can do so using a Phantom Portal. You can purchase one from the sapphire shop for 100 sapphires, but you don’t really need to. You can use any portal placed in a den. So, if you’re short on sapphires, I recommend heading to either my den (Asteralium) or PlayWild’s den. When you stand next to the portal, it’ll show you how many paintseeds and phantom tokens you have.

Previously, a phantom flight suit was required to enter the phantom dimension. This is no longer needed. Still, if you have one it can be fun to use.

Lost Temple of Zios

When you first enter the Phantom Dimension, it’ll look something like this. You always spawn in the Lost Temple of Zios. To the left is a salesman that we’ll cover later on. You also find a paintseed tree, which replenishes every 24 hours. Scattered around the phantom dimension are a few “Messages From Your King” which can provide some context for the world you explore. I’ll keep the details of those messages a secret, though!

The Phantom Dimension seems to mirror Jamaa very closely, except it’s inhabited by phantoms! For the most part, you can only access the main lands of Jamaa, not any other rooms.

Standing too close to the phantoms will make them want to fight you. You can run away, but you won’t get very far. Other areas are blocked off and can only be opened after defeating a certain number of phantoms. You’ll probably engage with the small proto-phantoms first:

Proto-Phantoms and Combat Basics

Battling phantoms is pretty simple. Just tap on the circles when they pop up. Proto phantoms will have you tap one circle, and then you’ll launch a successful attack. Other phantoms will have you tap sets of circles to throw a paintseed. No matter what type of phantom, you’ll need to perform three attacks to win the battle. Each attack will give you phantom tokens, which can be spent at a store.

To maximize the amount of tokens you get, you want to wait as long as you can before tapping the circle. The time remaining is shown by the shrinking ring around the circle. If it shrinks all the way to nothing, you get attacked by the phantom! An attack by a phantom places a mark at the top of the screen. If you accumulate three marks, and you’ll have to restart the area you’re in.

Phantoms

Regular, traditional phantoms seen above require two taps for each attack. Like before, it takes three attacks to dispatch them. Since these phantoms are harder, you’ll be awarded more tokens for their defeat.

Spiked Phantom Salesman

Once you’ve collected some tokens, you can head to the Phantom Salesman you saw back when you entered the dimension. They sell a variety of items, seen below:

The dark items clothing and furniture can all be bought infinitely. The inventory upgrades and emote set can be bought once per account. I would say you should prioritize the inventory upgrades first.

Potions are a bit of their own beast. I’ll be covering them in my next blog post, which will be a potion guide. When it’s out, you can click here to view it.

One final note about the Lost Temple of Zios. You’ll find a few engravings of emojis and such around the area. These were used when the Phantom Dimension first opened, as the original portal was locked until you did a series of events. You don’t need to worry about them anymore.

Sarepia Forest

After defeating five phantoms in the Lost Temple of Zios, the gate to Sarepia Forest will open! You’ll start at the bottom, and can work your way up to the top levels. There’s not much new introduced except for...

Spikey boi.

Spikey Phantoms

A new type of phantom can be found here. Spikey phantoms are more dangerous than any kind found so far. These guys, along with regular phantoms, will now take three or four taps to launch a successful attack.

township.PNG

Jamaa Township

After defeating 15 phantoms in total, you’ll be able to head to Jamaa Township. Nothing new here for the most part. Some phantoms will now take four taps to launch an attack against.

Appondale, Crystal Sands, Coral Canyons, and Kimbara Outback

After drafting 25 total phantoms, you’ll have access to Apondale, Crystal Sands, Coral Canyons, and Kimbara Outback. Out of those four places, I recommend heading over to Crystal Sands. Since you’ll be backtracking, be on the lookout for phantoms that have respawned. They don’t stay gone after being defeated. While in these new areas, you’ll find two new types of Phantoms.

Heavy Phantoms

Heavy Phantoms take about five taps to launch an attack against. However, sometimes they will place trapped circles that will put a mark against you if touched.

Bat Phantoms

Bat phantoms must be taken care of extremely quickly. Only three or four taps are needed for a successful attack. However, the time you have to react to the circle prompts is very short. Be careful when fighting both of these types of phantoms, as they can also place trapped circles.

These guys give the most money possible from phantom battles! If you can handle them, repeated matches are recommended. However, there’s still one last location to visit.

Mt. Shiveer

After defeating thirty phantoms total, you’ll be allowed to access the peak of Jamaa itself, Mt. Shiveer. Here you’ll find a special type of phantom that doesn’t want to electrocute you on site.

The Giant Phantom

Inside where the arctic wolf gave would be, a giant phantom rests. And he’s got a huge craving for paintseeds. First, though, you’ll need to defeat two heavy phantoms guarding it’s lair. After the battles, head up the hill and interact with the giant phantom. It’ll eat your paintseed and give you a random prize. Rewards include:

giant_phantom.PNG
  • Gems

  • Phantom Tokens

  • Clothing or Furniture

  • Rare Tagged Clothing or Furniture

  • Potions (Including Super Sapphire Potions)

  • Sapphires

The big ticket item here is sapphires. If you had infinite paintseeds, you could theoretically have infinite sapphires If you aren’t interested in spending real world money on Animal Jam, this (along with minigame challenges) will be your best bet at getting your hands on those shiny blue gems. However, sapphires are not common. So don’t go in expecting to buy out the entire sapphire shop when you come out. It’s also worth noting that all clothing and furniture prizes come from a set list, not any item in the game. You can view the full list on the Animal Jam Wiki.

Phantomsquito Salesman and Bonus Area

The Phantomsquito is a special salesman that moves around the Phantom Dimension each day. There doesn’t seem to be any set pattern to their movement, so you’ll just have to check each endgame area (Every area unlocked after Jamaa Township). They sell a few extra potions. For more information, see the previously mentioned potion guide. If it’s released, you can click here to view it.

Remember when I said that “for the most part” you can only access the main lands of Jamaa. Well, this is why I said that. In Coral Canyons, you can actually enter the Wild Explorers Tent. Previously, you were able to buy a “Cami’s Phrog” as a one time purchase for one token. However, this has since been removed. I don’t recommend coming here, as there’s no reason other than to say you’ve been. I actually forgot about it when I was gathering pictures for the article, and had to come back the day after.

Finishing Up

Well, I believe that covers everything. Let me know if I missed anything or something isn’t accurate in the comments. I’ll do my best to fix it. Thank you all for reading. I hope this guide was helpful!
