Hey, Jammers! Welcome back to minigame pairs, the series in which I guide Jammers on two minigames in one article. Today’s featured minigames are Sky High and Jamaa Derby. Now without further ado, let’s get into the guides!
Sky High
Sky High is probably one of the most frustrating minigames out there. It takes absolutely forever to reach the top… and with one wrong move, you’re falling all the way back down to the ground. The beloved prize at the top seems so far away… but it's really not! These tips will surely help you in your playthrough.
Don’t play for gems. To be honest, playing for gems in Sky High probably isn’t your best bet. The gem payout is horrible, and the gems on the map are placed sporadically in hard to reach places. Instead of focusing your energy on collecting gems, focus on the real task at hand. Gems typically complicate your path, as they are sometimes hiding next to a phantom, or on a small cloud.
Focus all of your attention on where the phantoms are, and which clouds you’ll be able to jump on. If you find yourself in a phantom hotspot, don’t try to jump all the way across the map, that usually ends in failure. Instead, approach the clouds near you. If all of the clouds in your path are infested with phantoms, make sure to click the arrow keys lightly, don’t hold them down. Clicking the arrow keys lightly gives you more opportunities to squeeze between phantoms and open air.
Fun Fact! A few years ago, there was a big controversy in Animal Jam regarding the prize you can obtain at the top. Many thought it was possible to obtain spiked collars, wristbands, and even HEADDRESSES! However, none of these items were ever released as a prize due to non member compatibility. The best prize you can obtain is a worn blanket. That said, it’s not worth your time to play the game for hours. Worns are only obtained occasionally!

Jamaa Derby
Jamaa Derby is probably one of my favorite minigames. It’s high stakes, strategy centric, and full of obstacles! The gem payout is also pretty good compared to other minigames I’ve seen. There’s absolutely nothing to hate about this one! However, it can be quite tricky if you don’t know the right way to play.
Save your carrots! Many people waste their carrots at the very beginning, only to have that hurt them in the long run. If you find yourself not being able to jump over an obstacle, use one of the carrots you’ve saved up! Only use them when they’re absolutely necessary. If you have one or two left over at the end, use them before you cross the finish line to snatch the first place spot! Other players have likely used up all their carrots.
Try to eliminate lag before beginning. Close extra applications, refresh, or switch to a den that is less laggy. Playing the game with lag is super tedious. Sometimes, the space bar will lag out and I won’t be able to jump, or the game will just run slowly.
