Animal Jam has been going strong for almost ten years now. Ten years! Doesn’t that make you feel old? But with the anniversary, some major decisions have been made to ‘boost gameplay rates like never before.’ So what changes to our beloved game now, during what Animal Jam called the “AMAYzing Migration?” Is Play Wild taking over? What happens to the original game? What do these changes mean for the community? You’re about to find out.
From an AJPC player standpoint, I had many mixed emotions reading AJHQ’s Instagram post. Many other AJPC players simply thought it was a name change-which didn’t sit well with a lot of the older players. The idea of giving the title of Animal Jam away to Play Wild was hurtful. It was unsettling.
As for the game itself, we’ve seen few the ‘aMAYzing’ changes. All the changes we seemed to get is a harder way to log in, a ‘classic’ slammed onto the AJ logo, and a bundle you can buy for 40 diamonds.
When you log onto the AJ site now, you’re greeted with a foreign, new design that tries to get you to download and play AJPW. You have to scroll down, click the smaller AJC box, and hit either download or player login. It’s not only a hassle, but confusing. Players are having greater difficulties, which is causing many to quit. This will also make getting new players on PC a lot harder since they’ll hit download and play Play Wild instead of scrolling.
The new logo is a simple AJ logo with a ‘classic’ sign at the bottom. Our logo hasn’t changed much, but it was enough for a lot of players.
There no longer seems to be membership bundles. It’s now-similar to Play Wild- diamond bundles. You pay a certain amount of diamonds for a bulk amount of den/clothing/pets. This is helpful in the way that people who buy the memberships annually/every 6 months can get the items before they release into stores.
The best thing us AJPC players can do right now is to just keep an open mind and try to stay positive. The changes are not easy to cope with, but it’s best to be kind to AJHQ and keep a positive mindset. You never know what the changes could bring to us AJPC players. Perhaps it’ll attract players from Play Wild (AJ) to PC (AJC)! Things haven’t changed, but it’s only week 2 of May. Things could definitely turn around for the better!
(I would like to point out that this article was written from a standpoint of an AJPC player. Others might have opinions that vary from mine).
Be safe, and Jam On!
